Of the fire and froth in Bengaluru's lakes

Pre-monsoon winds are churning the sediments in the lake bed that holds phosphorous from detergents, thus producing froth, and in some instances, fire, due to hydrocarbons from the industrial contaminants, says Dr. TV Ramachandra, lead scientist at the Centre for Ecological Sciences, IISc.
