Our stand on the issue
It is not that we at IChangeMyCity do not share the compassion for the stray canines in our city. The purpose of inviting citizens to report man-animal conflict isn't done with the intention of undermining their right to existence, but to merely figure out possible solutions to end this conflict. We are, by no means, suggesting or implying that stray dogs are a menace to society.
Dogs are territorial animals and their displacement and hunger most often leads to the conflict that we witness. Often, we come in the line of fire, but in most cases we humans end up perpetrating the conflict that translates into a 'menace'. This is one aspect that not many citizens are privy to. Through our campaign, we intend to get all stakeholders to collectively understand the underlying issue and find a solution. While we do understand the sensitivity of such an issue, we are also trying to approach the issue pragmatically.
We are currently in the process of contacting organisations that work for improvement in stray dog management and eventually change the mindset of citizens towards these animals.
